My Favorite Question to Ask Real Estate Agents in July
One of my favorite questions to ask agents around this time of year is a simple one:
If nothing changed about the way you’re running your business today, where would you end the year?
I believe July is less about setting new goals and more about taking an honest look at your direction.
One of the biggest misconceptions in real estate is that growth comes from adding more. More lead sources, marketing, tools, and things to squeeze into an already busy schedule.
But after years of watching agents build successful businesses, I’ve found that meaningful growth usually comes from the opposite.
It comes from removing distractions that pull your attention away from the work that matters most. It comes from improving the systems that support your business instead of relying on memory or motivation. And it comes from focusing on fewer things with greater consistency, rather than trying to be everywhere all at once.
The agents who finish the year strong are rarely the ones doing everything. They’re the ones who become more intentional about where they invest their time.
Sometimes that means doubling down on the referral strategy that’s already producing results instead of chasing the newest lead source. Sometimes it means simplifying your marketing instead of creating something new every week. Sometimes it means saying no to the things that keep you busy but don’t actually move your business forward.
Small adjustments like these can completely change the trajectory of your second half.
That is why I encourage every agent to pause this month and ask themselves that question again.
If December looked exactly like today, would you be happy?
If the answer is yes, then keep building on what’s already working.
If the answer is no, remember that you still have six months to change the outcome.
You don’t need to reinvent your business. You simply need to become more intentional about the way you run it.
That’s one of the things our leadership team enjoys most about working with our agents. We don’t believe growth comes from asking you to do more, but instead, helping you identify what matters most, building systems that support your goals, and helping you create a business that works smarter, not harder.
So if you’re looking for a brokerage that will help you think more strategically about your business,
Sometimes all it takes is one conversation to create the clarity that changes the rest of your year.
