Setting Your Vision (Not Just Your Goals) for 2027

This time of year, I spend a lot of time sitting down with agents to talk about business planning. And one of the best parts for me as a leader is hearing what they’re excited about for the year ahead.

To get there, we have to flip your traditional business planning session. Most planning begins with a goal for how many homes you want to sell or what you’d like your income to look like at the end of the year. We’ll talk about those numbers, but I like to begin a little differently: What do you see for your life in 2027?

Sometimes that takes a little longer to answer.

You may already know your production goal, but when was the last time you gave yourself room to picture what reaching it could make possible? Maybe you want to take your family on the trip you’ve been talking about for years, with enough time to enjoy it fully. Perhaps you’re imagining investing in real estate yourself, or you’d love to feel financially ready for a milestone that’s getting closer.

Those are the things I want to hear about, because they help us understand what you’re really working toward.

Give yourself permission to think bigger

When you’re busy taking care of customers, it’s easy to plan around the next transaction and let your own ambitions stay somewhere in the background. Business planning season is a chance to bring them into focus.

Picture yourself toward the end of 2027, feeling proud of the year you’ve had. What has changed? What have you been able to do that matters to you? Let yourself spend some time with that picture before deciding what’s realistic or working out how you’ll get there.

Think about the experiences you want to have and what you’d love to make possible for the people closest to you. You may find that something you’ve treated as a distant “someday” goal deserves a place in next year’s plan.

And don’t feel like you have to settle! Your vision can be ambitious. Building a successful real estate business can create opportunities that change your life, and it’s worth being clear about the ones you want to pursue.

As that picture becomes clearer, write it down or gather a few photos that remind you of what you’re excited to make possible. Having your vision in view can help you carry that excitement into the work ahead and see how the business you’re building is moving you toward something meaningful.

If you’d like to start mapping out your vision for 2027, let’s sit down for a business planning session.

Together, we’ll connect what you want for your life to your real estate goals and build a plan you’re excited to put into action.
